I’m probably going to take the plunge and start using it occasionally ..

Still in limbo on a lot of fronts, e.g. musical work, website mischief, etc.  I decided to let the whenaissance.com domain lapse because I simply didn’t have time for it at the moment.  I still think it’s a stellar idea, so perhaps some day it will again be a possibility, but there’s just too many other things (that are admittedly less fun) that take a higher priority right now.

Working 40 or more hours a week is a chunk of time, but on top of that I’m trying to work toward an MFA in Creative Writing (and have a loong way to go) so only time will tell if I get a chance to put anything together musically and/or website related.

I have been listening to a lot of music lately, but the dancier stuff still often leaves me flat.  Much of what I’m enjoying is fairly commercial in nature, but still quite good.  Rediscovering Portishead a bit with their new upcoming third album soon, which I have heard, and perhaps I’ll post about it soon.  Also listening to a lot of Marsmobil who I think are fantastic.  And, as always, much Ulrich Schnauss.

Yes.  Still Here.  Still resisting the temptation to unleash my abilities in the service of good, bad, or both at the same time (no, I’m not bisexual - this is all theoretical).

Perhaps at some point.  Or at no point.  Or at a continuum of points.

Or perhaps a combination of the three.

Apparently Undergroove is off.  I don’t know the details, but it looks like it’s just not happening.

EDIT: Apparently Undergroove is back *on* again, but I can’t do it because it’s too short notice for me to shift gears again.  Hopefully they’ll have me back again in the next month or so.

Okay, so I’ve decided to end my long self-imposed DJing exile by doing a set at Underground Nistro in downtown West Palm Beach.  It’ll be May 4th, which is a Friday.  This is the Friday of Sunfest and the venue is basically right there in the same area.

It’ll be a 100% laptop set.  I am unpredictable and unique.  I may never DJ again, or I may DJ a lot after doing this.  Come help me decide.

I’ll post some more details in a day or two.

but here’s a little something.

In case you hadn’t noticed the site has had a bit of a redesign and redistribution.  I decided to do away with the Typepad-hosted weblog since I had plenty of space to run my own sites on my own hosting space.  At the same time I have decided to split my personal site into two pieces, one for my music-related exploits and one that deals with my professional life (web design / development).

Many people have also asked what my status is on music production.  You may remember I had nearly sworn it off entirely but depeding on how things shake out I may be working on some things very soon.  In many ways I feel I can’t make enough to survive being an independent producer and remixer, but I realized that it is one of the things that make me who I am.  Without music creation in my life, it feels like something is missing, so I’m taking things up again, although I’m going to take it lightly and just try to have fun with it.  At the point it ceases to be fun, I’ll take a break again, because it is too important to have it feel like “a job” to me.

Some of you probably know exactly what I am saying and have similar feelings about other hobbies and pursuits in your lives.
